Five top notch picnic spots around Exmoor and Somerset
It’s officially the end of winter, and that means only one thing-
Here’s five of our favourite spots:
The Quantocks is a superb area for picnicking that offers some excellent sites. There are picnic tables available in the area, alternatively you can take a walk on some of the tracks going over the hills and choose your own picnic spot that will provide exquisite views over the Bristol Channel or across Somerset.
Nutcombe Bottom, Nr Dunster
The area where you can park is part of the Crown Estate and this is where you will find some lovely picnic areas and plenty of walks from the car park that allow for you to find your own picnic area further afield. There is a nice easy walk to the Tall Trees Trail and this is where you will find the tallest tree in the British Isles.
Landacre Bridge, Nr Withypool
Landacre is a fantastic destination and from the bridge there are some perfect picnic spots that run along the river banks for all to enjoy. The Exmoor ponies and sheep are to thank for the well-
Porlock Hill offers breath-
Doone Valley, Nr Lynmouth
Doone Valley has a path which runs in tandem beside the river, along the Doone Valley and this is where you’ll find a plethora of superb opportunities to sit and enjoy a picnic by the tranquil river. If you should run low on supplies then you can take a trip to Cloud Farm where they offer refreshments.
