A visit to the simply wonderful Tarr Steps is a must. The steps which are made of huge stone slabs lie in a picturesque country setting of a shady valley carved out over time by the river Barle. Tarr Steps boasts being Britain's largest clapper bridge that is thought to be part of a prehistoric trackway or medieval route.
Hailed as being one of Somerset's hidden jewels, the tranquil setting of Cleeve Abbey at Washford is an English Heritage property that is one of the few remaining 13th century monastic sites left today with such a complete set of cloister buildings. It really is a fantastic sight.
Knightshayes Court lies to the south of Dulverton and provides visitors with the opportunity to enjoy this lavish Victorian Gothic masterpiece complete with beautiful gardens and grounds encased within a splendid walled garden-
